Animal Crossing release date May 5?

I went to gamestop today and asked the guy behind the counter when Animal Crossing is going to be released.

I've been doing this for month after month after month.
They usually check their computer, look up at me, and say that there hasn't been a date set for the game.

But, today was different.
Today the guy checked his computer, looked up at me, and said May 5th.
He then asked me if I wanted to preorder.
I was so excited I preordered the game

I don't want to get my hopes up but it's too late my hopes are sky high now.
I really hope that gamestop employee wasn't trolling me.
Maybe someone else can go to a gamestop near them and confirm date?

Gamestop uses placeholder dates quite often, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

True. Gamestop throws a date out there so you pre-order, then they push it back. This is common for them.

You see, the employees aren't told that by official sources. You have to wait until Nintendo confirms a date.
