throw "Final Fantasy" into the title, like they did back in the GameBoy days?

Final Fantasy gets enough flak as it is. Maybe Square should quit releasing games on the iOS and start releasing things we care about.

The purpose of that title is that it's a new IP and a big spoiler.

Because everything is more public these days. Alot of people were really confused when they played FF3 on SNES, then bought FF6 for PSX and discovered that it was the same game.

That just wouldn't happen these days.

They still do. Look at the 4 Warriors of Light. I think it was not called Final Fantasy in Japan. ANd I'm guessing that you're reffering to Bravely Default: Flying Fairy...well that's the same team as 4 Warriors of Light, and I think I've read that it didnt sold well in the US. They may based their lack of interrest in localizing on that, so slapping "Final Fantasy" titles on it might not change much...

It won't be the first time an original franchise had it's identity ganked for the sake of sales. And meaningful titles are nice, but not a necessity. (Mother, for instance.)

A lot of the version on ios are the best versions from all platforms. According to pocketgamer, the ios version of might and magic is also the one to get:

After the disappointments of Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy 14, and Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, I believe the brand is starting to lose its power.

DLC, online passes and the rise of casual budget gaming have ruined the video game industry.

But then they'd have to actually put some effort into things. You can see the bind they're in.
