So I just picked up a 3DS XL. I was not a heavy user of my DS, but I see alot of games that interest me that came out recently or will soon.....and they all said 3DS on the box. So I bought one (got Zelda and Mario Kart too).

Anyway, I am in the middle of Chrono Trigger and want to keep at it. Do I need to connect to the internet to play DS gams on the 3DS? Do I have to stay connected?
I am looking through the huge manual as the 3DS charges, and it seems needlessly complicated.

I guess maybe my only question is in rageds to playing DS software on the 3DS.
I saw it mentioned in the manual and it seems weird, like I read it wrong.
I need to connect to wifi to play DS games....weird.

Also, is there anything about this system that I should know?
Like anything you wish you knew when you got yours?

You don't need internet or anything complicated to play your DS games, just put them in and play, the same as you would for a 3DS game, or your old DS.

Yup, you can play them without internet or anything, just plug them into your 3DS and go.

As for recommendations, check out Virtue's Last Reward, it's one of the very best games on the system

Two things you should know:

1) Play 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors first, it's essential to the story of VLR.

2) Do not save in the PEC room, it can wipe your save file. To be safe, don't save in puzzle rooms at all, only main warehouses.

Baseless prediction as of 01/04/13 : the next Xbox will be called the Xbox On.

Two things you should know:

1) Play 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors first, it's essential to the story of the trilogy, and some twists in VLR won't hit as hard without having played it.

2) Do not save in the PEC room. To be safe, don't save during escape sequences at all, only the novel sections.

When/where was the 999 series confirmed as a trilogy?

By the writer, Uchikoshi, on twitter. There are already multiple details confirmed, which I won't post here because of spoilers.
