Going to buy FE...Backlog until then.....Which game should I play ?

#1NeonYoshi11Posted 1/24/2013 3:56:55 PM
I have few games that I've collected but haven't played yet.

I'm excited for FE and it will be the next game I sink Hours into but until that day, I need something to hold me over. My options are:

* Dragon Quest 5 ( DS )

* Dragon Quest 6 ( DS )

* Valkyria Chronicles 2 ( PSP ) - I'm about 4 hours in

* Star Ocean: First Departure ( PSP )

* Star Ocean: Second Evolution ( PSP )

* Final Fantasy Tactics: WotL ( PSP )

* Pokemon SoulSilver ( DS ) - I'm at GoldenRod City / Gym 3.

* Jeanne D' Arc ( PSP )

Other Games to play that aren't RPG's and can be finished faster.

* Kirby's Squeak Squad - ( DS ) - on World 3

* Theme Park ( DS ) - Haven't started

* Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance ( GC ) - Haven't started.

* Advance Wars: Dual Strike - DS - I'm about 50% done with campaign. Haven't played since Summer.

So yea Basically I'm not sure if I want to commit to a RPG and then not have it finished by the time FE is released.

I'd rather not be in the middle of one story and have to start enough and FE takes priority over any game now because it's new.

I'm not sure I want to play FE for GC because I don't want to be sick of FE by the time it releases.

Not sure I want to play Dual Strike because, although I need to finish it, I don't want the similar style of play to ruin my excitement for FE and wear me out of that genre prior to playing FE: Awakening.

So yea I'm not sure if I should commit and try to log in tons of hours in an RPG to hold me over, or if I want to just play some more quick games.

I usually would just make up my own mind...and I will....but any advice is helpful.

I also have a problem with playing a game I've wanted for like 5 hours and then kind of losing interest. Not that I'll dislike a game, but I won't have that driving urge to " HAVE TO PLAY "........

Kind of unsure how to spend my next week or so. Every time I think about starting a game or have it in my hand I second guess myself.

So yea any helpful ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm trying to avoid playing FE or anything similar until Awakening because I don't want to go from one 45 hour tactical grind right into a new one.

I usually need a good week or 2 break between RPG type games.

But yea I've heard awesome things about almost all the games I've yet to play including FFTactics.

I loved...I mean LOVED FFTA2.....so I'm assuming I'll like both WotL and as well as Tactics Ogre which is another game I've been meaning to buy.

Soo many games ! lol

Thanks for the suggestions though.

All I want to do is play a FE game right now but I don't want to ruin the new experience of FE: awakening.

I haven't played an FE 7 & 8 about 2-3 years ago so I'm pumped for Awakening.

I'm leaning towards maybe VC2 but still not sure. I've been wanting to play DQ 5 forever but I know I'm going to need to invest some serious time into DQ games.

Try Dragon Quest 5.

Its one of the best Dragon Quest games, and it isn't near as long as the later ones.

Your looking at about 25 hours with DQ5 minus the bonus content.

Hmmmm

I could prob finish DQ5 in week......

From what I've read, the story should keep me interested throughout the game.

DQ 5 just moved it's way up the list.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Not 100% yet...

Jeanne is that good huh ?

I started DQ 5...only about an hour and like it so far....at least better than 4 at this point.

I still like 9 the best though.....but we will see.

I'll probably play JDA after FE: Awakening.

How long does it take to beat ?

30-35 hours. It's vanilla type rpg. No jobs system or anything that complicated, but it has a good story and nice 3D graphic. You can play it between your games if you get bored. I do that when I got bored with Disgaea.

My Score for JDA:
Story: 9 (France History + Fantasy + Tactic! What could be better than that?)
Graphics: 10 (Love it! The first TRPG I played with 3D graphic)
Sound: 8 (the voice only at cutscene parts, the rest just text based. The BGM didn't sound special but didn't poor either.)
Gameplay: 7 (It's too simple if you compare its with Disgaea or FFT)
Overall: 8.5
