Don't start with Persona 3 or 4, it'll turn you into a wimp. Just go with Nocturne.
Nocturne was easier than both IMO (on Normal)...
Unfortunately, your opinion is incorrect. If you make a Daisoujou with Dekaja and Dekunda early on you won't have much trouble. I didn't think any of the bosses were very hard. Matador is hella overrated. --- Monster Hunter Tri, Kid Icarus: Uprising IDs: Kirolos |

Nocturne was easier than both IMO (on Normal)... Did you go for True Demon path? I never played it on normal, was crazy and went for hardest difficulty possible. Matador is hard if you don't know what you're doing....same with The Trumpeter. Beelzebub is pretty difficult, especially trying to get to him..........very annoying. --- PSN: Blackspawn89 |

Beelzebub is pretty difficult, especially trying to get to him..........very annoying. Yes. I grinded at the end for high level demons though (not to beat the game, just cause I wanted them) so that probably made things easier. Hard mode would've given me a tough time but I wasn't crazy enough to do that. Matador was easy cause all I had to do was get to lvl 18 (which was only 3 levels away for me) and fuse Uzume and she had Media. Beat him on the 2nd try... Forgot about Trumpeter. Yeah he was hard. But he's only one of the few enemies I had trouble against. Beelzebub was tough...kinda. Mostly my fault. I forgot to bring death resistant demons except Daisoujou. I managed to beat him with just Demifiend and Daisoujou though lol. Long battle but I did it. --- Monster Hunter Tri, Kid Icarus: Uprising IDs: Kirolos |
Nickcool1996Posted 1/25/2013 8:30:40 PM | I beat Trumpeter in 3 turns the first time I fought him >_>
Anyway, from easiest to hardest of stuff I've played:
Devil Survivor II SMT I Devil Survivor Overclocked Persona 4 Hard Mode SMT II Persona 3 Hard Mode Devil Survivor SMT Nocturne (Normal) Strange Journey SMT Nocturne (Hard)
The difficulty of Nocturne was from environments. 5 Bosses give me trouble on Normal, many give me trouble on Hard. Don't understand why Thor is thought of as difficult by some though. --- http://www.youtube.com/user/Nickcool1996?feature=mhum http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o451/Behiimosu/dickkick.jpg |

Did you play P3 and P4 on Hard your first playthrough? I can't even imagine someone thinking Nocturne on Normal being harder than them if that's the case... As for Thor, I didn't die but I got worried as you have to fight a few battles before him and you don't get time to heal/save. --- Monster Hunter Tri, Kid Icarus: Uprising IDs: Kirolos |
Nickcool1996Posted 1/25/2013 9:35:15 PM | Persona 3 had difficulty in the beginning, I will admit. The first block's boss (the last one) was brutal on my underleved characters. The difficulty normaled out afterwards. Plus Luci was harder than Nyx for me. --- http://www.youtube.com/user/Nickcool1996?feature=mhum http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o451/Behiimosu/dickkick.jpg |
DynamicJumpIuffPosted 1/25/2013 10:30:09 PM | Honestly, I found Nocturne to be one of the easier ones and DDS to be the hardest. :u --- The official Lilim of the Shin Megami Tensei IV board "I thank you for arousing me" - Beruga, Terranigma |

I thought both were harder than Nocturne. I didn't fight him (well, except once just to "try" him, and I got killed immediately :P) but DDS1 has Demifiend. Satan from DDS2 is supposedly about as hard too. --- Monster Hunter Tri, Kid Icarus: Uprising IDs: Kirolos |
nintendoveteran (Topic Creator) Posted 1/26/2013 12:20:43 AM | So in terms of story, how do these work? I'm assuming they all take place in the same universe, but which ones do I need to play to understand others, or do they usually just do what FF (normally) does? --- I should go to a board where people discuss things I hate, so I can complain about them. Please take me seriously! |

They're all supposed to be part of a multiverse but you can jump in any of them without playing the others since they're mainly standalone. Only exception that I can think of is the Digital Devil Saga series. --- Monster Hunter Tri, Kid Icarus: Uprising IDs: Kirolos |
