"Because it actually has a huge selection of quality games. It's just the piracy problem that killed it. A lot of the good games are Japanese exclusives because of this, too."

"Piracy killed the PSP!"
* Fact- The PSP as of 2012 had sold over
70 million units. As a Nintendo competitor, that means it outsold
every other handheld that competed against Nintendo, combined, four times over.
* Fact- The PSP was selling like hotcakes throughout 2011, and was
still selling very well throughout 2012. People
wanted the PSP and it's games.
*Fact- up until the final bits of 2012, there were companies still actively involved in development, release and localization of PlayStation portable software.
So what killed the PlayStation Portable? Why did companies stop localizing and developing, despite the demand?
Was it that dark spectre of piracy?
No. The fact that there were
millions of people buying consoles, buying software, and clamoring for more, despite 70 million already out there, leaves something else... some little tiny event to blame...
Vita.
That's right. If you want to blame anyone or anything for the demise of the PSP, look no further than Sony themselves, who made sure the system was killed even when in 2012 it was STILL outselling the Vita by 2:1.
