Do I get a 3DS now or wait for a possible next model?

This is the problem with Nintendo consoles, I'm never sure when to get invest.

I don't think there's any compelling reason to wait.

Wow, haven't heard this in a while. Honestly though, there's a community here for both the original 3DS and the XL. I don't think you have to worry much about the new versions. It won't make your version obsolete.

There is only one game one that list I want.

I do want MK7 and the OoT remake though.

The earliest we can expect a new model is 2014, if not later. I'd go now, because otherwise you'd be waiting a year or so at least.

How would there be a new model to begin with? DS had DSLite/DSi/DSiXL

The 3DS already is a lite, while we have the XL now. I highly doubt we'll have a new model any time soon if Nintendo actually does make one.

Another question, is the xl worth the extra money?

Honestly theyre not that bad. When they do a revision theres a tangible upgrade while not making the previous models obsolete. Unlike Sony or Apple who throw out "new" models and only make them thinner or have slightly brighter screens so they can charge more for them. The DSi had (most importantly IMO) WPA2 encryption, plus cameras and other stuff.

I could see Nintendo improving battery life or having the circle pad pro dongle baked in, but theres not a whole lot else thats not a major hardware upgrade(which would be a new console). Perhaps better cameras or something? No point in waiting to me, but if I WAS gona wait it would only be until after E3.

If theres games that are out(or soon to be out) that you want and will play then get one, otherwise you have no reason other than hype/fanboyism to get one anyway. A new 3DS with say 3 games will run you over 300 bucks, and its entirely up to yourself if thats worth it or not.

I got one for Awakening, Atlus RPGs, Pokemon, and Monster Hunter. Thats hundreds of hours of entertainment for me right there, a lot of it next month.

P.S - The XL is well worth the price difference to me, but I freaking HATE gloss.

In my experience, yes.

I have large hands and the larger system took care of the pains in my hands.
