3DS XL for DS games

#1steveallen04Posted 1/28/2013 3:30:20 PM
I'm trying to decide between a DSI XL and a 3DS XL. Used DSI XL's on Ebay go for around 90-100 (in good shape). I can buy a 3DS XL new at best buy for $170 this week. I'll mainly be playing DS games right now.

I've read mixed feelings on how the 3DS displays DS games. I'm also wondering how well the 3DS controls DS games compared to the DSI XL (due to the D-Pad being lower). Lastly how does battery life compare when using DS games?

Thanks!

Get a 3DS XL, you might want to buy some 3DS games in the near future.

That is what I was thinking however I was a bit concerned with the controls since I'll primarily be playing DS games. How does it feel playing DS games with the D-Pad down so low on the 3DS XL? Are the graphics really that inferior for DS games on the 3DS XL vs. the DSI XL? Lastly how much less battery am I going to get out of the 3DS XL when playing DS games (compared to DSI XL)?

Doesn't feel any different really IMO. Playing DS games on a DSi XL is just about the same as playing on a 3DS XL. (I own both btw)

Also there's a lot of cheap downloadable games from the 3DS eShop. $70 price difference isn't too much more for the updated system.

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago and I went with the 3DS XL. It's worth it because in the near future you're gonna wanna play 3DS games.

I play more DS games right now than 3DS games but there are so many good games coming out. It's better to spend $170 now than $100 now and $200 later.

You can use the 3DS control stick for DS games. That's at a similar height to where the control pads are for the older DS models.
