SRPGs aren't really my thing,

its a tbs... a sub genre to the srpg category

Strategy RPGs are basically Strategy games with RPG mechanics. Turn-Based Strategy is a sub genre of Strategy games, encompassing both TBS and Real-Time Strategy. Then there's Squad-based (of which most Strategy RPGs are included), which is usually where you have a squad of usually non-generic characters (some games include opportunities to add generic characters to the squads).

GameStop's pros/cons:

THE GOOD
Challenging, finely tuned turn-based strategy gameplay
Adds new gameplay elements that emphasize positioning
Offers a great deal of content outside the main story
Auxiliary character dialogue adds personality to the team members
Excellent use of the 3DS's StreetPass functionality

THE BAD
Some elements of the interface aren't intuitive
The local multiplayer falls short

I just LOVE how positive reviews (especially for over hyped games), that many still have yet to play, instantly guarantee that a game will be flawless.

Yet I'm sitting here still trying to see the appeal of Fire Emblem games.

Are you one of those guys that says "If I don't like a game then it's bad."?

You can never have a thread praising a game, without Endgame coming in and ruining the vibe.

how similar is this to Advance Wars? I liked those games, but have never tried Fire Emblem. Looking at some videos, it seems similar, at least on the surface...

You must not like strategy games in general then.

What this means is that it increases the chances of us getting another Fire Emblem game on the 3DS in US within a few years.
