Nintendo has always considered this series an RPG in their Nintendo Power. Fans both agree and disagree with their label. Do you agree with Nintendo with this?

It's not an RPG, all the elements cited by those claiming it to be an RPG have been found in plenty of other non-RPGs as well. Action/adventure seems to me the best description.

of course it is. an rpg simply means a role playing game. which zelda does provide.

no.

I play the role of Megaman in the video game Megaman. Does that make it a RPG?

It's an action-adventure game, not an RPG.

Nope. Absolutely none of the elements that I consider denote an RPG are present in most of the Zelda games (off the top of my head, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is the only one)

It does have role-playing elements. But I'd consider it more of an action adventure game so nah.

They label it as an RPG in their Nintendo Power magazine? I've never understood why people say Zelda is an RPG. To me, even before playing some of the games, I never considered it one, and couldn't understand why people would label it as such.

I haven't read any of the recent Nintendo Power, but I have some older ones, even as old as the ones from the early 90s, and they do label Zelda as an RPG.

Oh, I see. I've only read like, 3 Nintendo Power issues so I wouldn't have known. :p I do think Zelda has RPG elements, but labeling it as an RPG doesn't feel right to me.

Same thing goes with Mega Man Legends. I've never considered it an RPG but I've seen a few fans refer to it that way. I would consider both that and Zelda to be more action/adventure/whatever with RPG elements, if anything.
