I've given them away often. It's rare for me to sell them, but I think I have maybe twice. To someone who was a friend who really wanted it, but I needed money more than usual that week.
I remember I did that with Suikoden and Suikoden 2. I was broke and hungry, otherwise I would have given them to him.
I trade and sell fairly often, but I've only traded or sold a tiny fraction of my collection. There ought to be an option for often, because despite how much I do it it's not because I don't like it, or beat it, and I don't do it half the time.

Budukai tenkaichi 2 because it was 15 bucks at the time and I never played it (It's worth more now so I kinda regret it but meh, I figured I'd pick up 3 later when it was still 20$)
The first dissida game, because dissida 012 covers more or less everything it had.
I always do it when stores give good trade in deals. I never keep games I haven't touched in months, unless I plan on re-playing them sooner or later.

Being a retro game collector, I never sell games unless I have more than one copy.

I trade around games to cycle my collection and try new things. Only really do it with DS games, though.
It's actually benefitted me in more ways- it expanded my game selection and likes by a massive amount. If I didn't do it I wouldn't have tried Rune Factory (3 was cheap, I traded in Pokemon Platinum for it, amazing deal), Phoenix Wright, Etrian Odyssey, Valkyrie Profile, and probably a variety of other games. It even got me a couple of localised CAVE shmups for the Xbox 360- which are usually £90-100 for region-free imports.
It's a godsend, and I buy most games second hand now. It doesn't really bother me; hell, I appreciate the price decrease. I only pay full price for games I really want- possibly games that I have learned to like from buying earlier games in the series on the cheap.

Playing: DeathSmiles, Fire Emblem 8, Rune Factory 3, Digimon World Dawn, Tales of Vesperia
Other: after getting an Atari 2600 in the mid 80s its hard to keep track of how many games I've sold through the years. Haven't sold any recently though. The internets have made me a smarter consumer so I'm less likely to buy games I won't want to keep forever.

If I hate a game and have no intention of playing it again, like Sonic Heroes, I'll sell it. If a better version comes out, like the HD collections of Sony games, I'll sell the old ones.

I don't like selling my games but I always end up doing so to help pay for another game/console. It's weird because I have enough money to pay for a game without having to trade it in but something always tells me to sell games to help pay for it.
I've only regretted it a few times though. The games I've traded in were usually games I either hated or had no replay value.
