I really want Fire Emblem but I'm still expecting a new 3DS at E3

Does the 3DS XL have an alarm clock? I rely on my DSi for my alarm.

Not built in, but you can get the Mario or Animal Crossing clocks off the eShop.

You'd be surprised how sick you get of the Mario theme when it wakes you up every morning.

It really doesn't have a built in alarm clock?!

That's kinda shocking if it really doesn't have one.

The next 3DS should be out in 1-2 years. Most likely two.

Just speculation, nothing more.

there won't be a new 3ds anytime soon, if at all

There will be new colors eventually though, along with Special or limited edition.

They've done it with every other hand held and console.

IIRC, people were surprised to see the XL get released 17 months after launch

I was surprised it took them 17 months to release an XL model, I fully expected one much earlier than that.

As far as revisions go, not happening this year, not likely for next year either. Usually revisions only come when the previous system had major flaws or if Nintendo wants to make a certain game that needs extra hardware that isn't available for the current system.

Neither the 3DS nor the 3DS XL have any major flaws that require a new iteration of hardware to fix, and I can't imagine any new features they could implement into the 3DS that would require a new iteration of hardware either.

And before you mention the 2nd circle-pad, understand that at this time Nintendo is content with the CPP addon for the few games that make use of it. If Nintendo decides to make a game that absolutely requires a 2nd circle-pad, as in it is completely unplayable without it, then they will likely introduce a revision that includes a 2nd cirlce-pad. However, there are currently no examples of games on any platform or in any genre that NEEDs a 2nd analog-stick.

The touch screen can do anything a 2nd circle-pad could do, and then some. Nintendo has been kind enough to offer the CPP attachment for those who prefer more familiar yet inferior control options.

TL;DR
Don't expect a revision for at least a year, if not longer.

The 3DS XL DOES NOT have any extra hardware compared to the 3DS. That's some serious misinformation you are spreading. Nintendo wasn't kind enough to offer anything. They were preying on people that wanted a 2nd analog by selling one seperately.
