paying a lot more to import a Japanese 3DS

http://goo.gl/gXiZ9
19600 yen including shipping = $211.24 (using xe.com/ucc for conversion rates, but when I bought a Japanese 3DS a few days ago, the price I paid was actually CHEAPER than predicted)

http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/consoles/nintendo-3ds-xl-red/102942
$199.99

$11.25 is "a lot more"

Or , if you live in the UK:

http://goo.gl/tOIot
174.99 ($274.72)

http://goo.gl/gXiZ9
19600 yen including shipping = $211.24

$211 is "a lot more" than $275?

Because I'm stupid and I didn't realize EU would get shafted again by Nintendo when I bought my 3DS.
Baseless prediction as of 01/04/13 : the next Xbox will be called the Xbox On.

Why not sell your EU system and games and use that money to buy an NA system and the same games and continue to save money on the games you purchase in the future?

Own a PAL White 3DS XL.
Thinking of getting a JPN 3DS LL for games that will never get localised like SRWUX!
But if the Ace3DS Pro card is real or a Region Free hack/mod becomes avaliable. Sack buying another 3DS!

Region locking is stupid!
Because I don't need one. All the games I want are available to me.
And eventually there will be a magic card that eliminates that problem.
Chozz~ of course you get distracted, there are boobs in your house that don't belong to your mother

Fair question.

Better way to phrase it might be, "What reason is there to buy a PAL 3DS if you speak either English or Japanese?"

Where are these really cheap NA games? I keep seeing people saying they are so much cheaper than here, but I don't see it.

3DS game = 29.99 = $45.

NA game= $39.99 + shipping + the chance to get hit by VAT and the stupid admin fee. Even if you get it through with being done for VAT and the admin fee, it's still going to be nearly the same price, unless you find somewhere with free shipping. Then it's what $5 saving for every game, if you get them all in without being done for VAT.

That's exactly my plan.

I wouldn't think the savings would be too exciting unless you live in AUS. But $5 can add up and, more importantly, you can play the games EU never gets. Of course, sometimes the reverse is true like with Operation Rainfall. Better to just crack the system, imo, but overall probably better to import a NA system than buy PAL
