I doubt they would. It definitely is a gimmick, most people on this forum seem to play with it off.
Like when the 3DS came out, all the TV manufacturers had to introduce a new tech so they could charge 2-3x as much for a TV. Everything doing 3d, including a toaster that could render a 3d image of your toast as it was going(J/K.. but wouldn't be surprised if Google had something along these lines).
I believe at CES this year, none of the TVs that were displayed provided 3d capabilities, or advertised it, Smart TV/4k resolution seemed to be the big tech all the companies went with. And so on...

No, they've already said that 3D wasn't as useful a feature as they had originally thought. The thought of Nintendo dropping 3D for their next handheld does raise some concerns about backwards compatibility though.
