I'd nominate every game in the Halo Series. Even the weakest soundtrack in the series (Halo Wars) was still fairly good.

A couple ppl have mentioned Final Fantasy now, my son talks about how good the music is in FF also. I've never really played FF, but I think I'm going to look up some music on youtube after hearing so many ppl praise it. Any specific song recommendations?

You might also want to look up the Black Mages. They're a Japanese Final Fantasy cover band which was formed by the original FF composer. I really like some of their versions of FF songs.

For 3DS? Of the games I have played it would be Fire Emblem.

But my favorite soundtrack overall is probably the one from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7.
