I'm trying to decide which would be best for me. I had a 3DS a few months ago but finances made me part ways with it. Looking to pickup another soon in preparation for MH3U and possibly to play FE Awakening since it looks pretty good.

to clarify: the third option is if you'd suggest a 3ds XL in general but would suggest a normal 3DS over the 3DS XL if the normal 3DS is bundled with something (a particular game, accessories, whatever). I hope that clarifies it lol

Any particular suggestions as to where to purchase one is nice or just explanation of your choice.

Thanks!

If you are deciding to get FE:A, there's an original 3DS bundle that comes with the game and a limited edition Cobalt Blue 3DS. It's the same price of the XL, but LIMITED EDITION, plus a game a 4gb SD Card.

If you have already owned a 3ds I say try something new and go with the XL. If for some reason you don't like it as much as the regular 3ds, return it and buy the FE:A bundle like the poster above me mentioned. Welcome back to the wonderful world of nintendo handheld gaming.

I'd get the 3DS XL simply because of the bigger screens. They certainly help make the games feel a lot more immersive, imo.

XL. It makes the original feel cramped in comparison.

Have both iterations and never once go back to the Original once i bought my XL . The Screen is the main reason.

Thank you for the welcome back.

My gut is telling me to go with the XL because if I don't I'll have that "this would be better on a bigger screen" thought everytime I play anything. Whats holding me back really is the price since I can get a normal 3ds and game for the price of the XL alone as someone also pointed out. I also was looking into the CCP for games and the XL version is only in Japan, correct?

Thanks for the input everyone. I will take it all into consideration when I make the purchase in a few weeks. I'm most excited about MH3U but FE is slowly gaining my attention too.

An oversized "portable" console with worse graphics that costs more? Count me in!

The only accurate thing you posted was the price and counting me in.
