Well Lords of Shadow on the 360/PS3 is a fantastic game, but a lot of CV fans were butthurt because it wasn't a 2d game. The soundtrack was amazing, but a lot of CV fans were butthurt because it wasn't 16 bit. They named it a reboot, but a lot of CV fans were butthurt because it didn't follow the original storyline.

Can you image what will happen if they made a Zelda game?

Did you consider that perhaps people were upset because - I don't know - the game wasn't even supposed to be a Castlevania game in the first place? That they took a GoW clone that really had nothing going for it, slapped CV on it for a sales boost, and then decided that this wuld be the series' direction from here on out?

So much this. Lords of Shadow as a game is generic as hell. When they slapped the Castlevania name on it, it was basically a slap in the face to long time fans.

Honestly i never played it but the zelda series does this all the time, imo.
I honestly wonder what people define as making a zelda game a zelda game.

I always defined it as exploration which is why i don't like the recent games.

Yes, yes. Everything that get's a reboot or changes is a slap in the face to fans. Fan bases in general suck, there's never anyway to please them.

you cannot please everyone so try to please the fans you already have instead of constantly trying to "broaden your demographic" by watering down the gameplay.

Innovative isn't a sin but you have to be careful in trying to keep the series's gameplay in tact.

Why? because your current fans play your series FOR it's gameplay. Were as new players wouldn't know what they want until they play it. And people who refuse to play the series for the gameplay it's known for can go to hell.

True. Well, true except for how wrong that is, and how it's basically what fanboys say when their favourite company's game is under attack. Too much different? "YOU SAID YOU WANTED CHANGE BAW BAW" Too similar? "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT".

LoS is factually NOT a Castlevania game. Its gameplay is not based on Castlevania. At least SotN can say that. It may have been divergent, but it was consciously divergent. Lords of Shadows has demonstrated that to Konami, Castlevania is a brand. It's a soda pop that they can put in a movie to make a profit. It's not a major franchise for them any more.

If and only if this means Zelda 2 meets Metroidvania.

Overworld = traditional top dow Zelda but getting hit enters in to battle field. You can stun strike and even defeat enemies in top down map view but only on battle field do you gain exp. Use weapons and tools as you would on a top down Zelda only making adjustments for 2D sidescrolling game play menus and layout.

Dungeons = Sidescrolling Metroidvania, dungeon have map, compass, boss key, treasure item, and mini bosses. They play like Castlevania levels form say Portrait of Ruin only with Zelda puzzles. Most importantly you can use sub-weapons, say bombs to blow up walls, or boomerang to stun things. Hookshot works abit like Grapple beam in Metroid. Bow & Hammer are alternate main weapons, with bow working like eggs in Yoshi or through tilt, and hammer being alternate to sword play, with it's own combo play. Last Magic is handled as an enhancer special attack, fire to use fire arrows, ice to use ice arrow.

If we are speaking of any other kind of Zelda no.
