Anyone worried the DKC games will be downgraded to handheld games from now on?

I hope this port isn't any indication of that happening. It seems like a lot of sub-series that used to be a console series are becoming handheld games now, and that's most likely because Nintendo's handhelds have been more successful, Nintendo finally has a handheld suitable for console-like games, and it likely requires a smaller team to make a handheld game rather than a console game, which tend to be packed with more content.
I'm not saying handheld games are always inferior to console games, but there's obviously more work put into console games compared to handheld games most of the time, console games feel more grand, and I want the DKC series to keep that treatment.
I hope the fact that DKCR sold really well on the Wii decreases the chance of this happening.

The 3DS is already doing really good right now, the Wii U deserves its fair share of good games.

I don't think there's any reason to feel worried. They've made handheld ports of DKC games before.

This, they were called DK Land and were on Gameboy, pretty good games for a gameboy, but they weren't exactly ports, iirc they had different levels but the same characters and themes.

In terms of what? Portability? That's one strength compared to the dozen strengths a console game has.

2d platformers belong on handhelds, not consoles, so i like this.

DK land was a entirely new game pretty much

I actually just did a little review of it on my YouTube channel (shameless plug)
although dk land 2 and 3 were less original and were kinda more like ports.

this shoulda been DK land returns and also be an altered port with some new things
(like the virtual boy level in the concept art)

Why do reviewers have to be so enthusiastic all the time?

I dunno about you, but I find handheld games to be easier and usually better too. I guess it's just me.

No. Every single Donkey Kong Country game hasn't gotten a superior handheld port in its lifetime.

To be fair, DKC3 on GBA has one thing going for it. It was given extra levels.
