Oracle Zelda games > Link's Awakening

Good god Link's Awakening is overrated as heck

Funny thing is the Oracle games are Link's Awakening 2.0. I really don't see how folks can like one and not love the other. It's all the same.

but they aren't the same. did you even play the games? obviously not.

What are you going on about? I've played all three likely far more than you have, bud. And I never said they were the same. I said the Oracle games are LA 2.0, an upgrade, if you will.

Cosmetically, the Oracle games are prettier versions of LA DX. You see new tiles; that's a given. The basics are the same. Repeat enemy sprites are common. Facade went from dungeon boss to second dungeon miniboss in Seasons, IIRC, for example.

Then, look at gameplay. LA established the basic gameplay (which functions differently than ALttP) which was then carried over to Seasons and Ages and improved upon. There was no Seed Shooter or Roc's Cape in LA, but the functional precursors were there in the Magic Rod and Roc's Feather. The mechanics of the Feather and Bracelet remained unchanged in the later games.

Following that, look at the overworld. Sunken City looks like Animal Village but with water. The time and season gimmicks were added to give a fresh coat of paint to very familiar stuff. I feel it worked. And that's not to say there weren't other influences. Ages takes several cards out of Ocarina of Time's (Jabu Jabu's Belly and the Zora Village) and Majora's Mask's (hand in the toilet) decks.

Go to Gamestop, buy a Steam card, and use it to purchase Ys Origin. You won't be disappointed.

Yay, my favourite pair of Zelda games! About time we got word on this; probably the pair of VC games on the 3DS I was looking most forward to.

I hope they come here soon! I've only got like $10 on my shop account, so I hope to get more before the games come, since I doubt they'll be that cheap and I want the set.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY GODDAMN MONEY!

Seriously though, I've never played the Oracle games and I've been dying to. Well, I played a little bit using more dubious methods, but I would absolutely buy them if I get the chance.
