I don't know anything about the Zelds fanbase, though.

Pokémon fanbase. Either everything is perfect or everything sucks. Sonic fanbase as a close second, made of neckbeards living in the past (wich may or may be not furries) and people who don't care about the games and just gets off to Sonic porn. I don't know anything about the Zelds fanbase, though.

Every fanbase has tasteless hentai but Zelda hentai has taken the cake. Take a good look at how bad they portray Link:

You think that's bad? You haven't seen anything yet. There's worse stuff out there that doesn't even break the ToU for several series.

The worst piece of art I've seen cant be posted here though. It involves Hinawa and the Mecha Drago from Mother 3.

I find the Pokemon fans can be quite toxic.

(Long story back when RSE was out, lots of racism, elitism, excessive fanboyism and childish name calling when I opened up a help thread. One of the reasons why I left gfaqs for a good while.)

Pokemon...

I was around the boards when Garchomp got put into Ubers, and when Salamence got thrown in there too.

*shudders at the 'Nam-like flashbacks*

I can understand controversy about tiers. I can also understand controversy about favourite gens, especially when nostalgia goggles are involved.

But what's completely intolerable is the fanbase's defense of Game Freak's disgusting business practices like single save files and multiple versions, as well as their complete rejection of any slightest change to the worn-out 17-year-old Pokemon formula (TM). You pick a G/F/W starter, collect 8 gym badges, battle a rival several times (more like your "friend" these days), hunt down some criminal team, fill out a Pokedex, defeat the E4 & become Champion etc. etc. etc. You be able to catch some common rodent (rattata clone) and common bird (pidgey clone) in Route X01, go through a bug catchers' forest in the first half of the game, go through some giant city with a multi-story department store, go through a maze-like cave called Victory Road before the E4 etc. etc. etc.

Simply put, Pokemon games have zero surprises these days because they're all based off the same cookie-cutter template. Yet these Pokédrones act as if changing even one parameter of this stale, regurgitated formula will result in the death of the Pokemon series, when it's far from the case. There were legitimate attempts at innovating the formula in Yellow (change to starter), Gold/Silver (only game with more than 1 region & 8 gyms) and Ruby/Sapphire (reworked battle system with abilities, natures, etc.), and these changes were received very well. Game Freak is just lazy these days and the fans are too blind to see that.

I agree with the Nintendo hoggers. The ones that defend everything they put out, and find ways to make its flaws seem justifiable.

i remember losing faith in Nintendo when I bought my GBA...it was the first system I ever bought with my own money, and I was excited. Unfortunately, they gave us the Super Mario Advance series...after that, I never praised them again.

What was wrong with the Super Mario Advanced series? I was about 12 years old when those games started to come out and I only played Link to the past and Super Mario World in the SNES (than I never owned). For me, it was nice to get a chance to play games that I previously didn't have to ability to. Or games like Yoshi's Island that I didn't know existed.

You don't have to justify your opinion to me though. I'm just genuinely curious.

Nothing wrong with releasing old content from time to time but they released it one game at a time hastily packed with the exact same Mario bros clone over the entire span of the gba life. This should have been a compilation but nintendo got greedy and we got zero Mario platformers on the system

I never thought about that. You're right. They easily could have fit those games onto one cartridge. Not like NES/SNES games are huge. And didn't they have that arcade game in SuperStar Saga as well?

No matter how rabid a video game fan will get, it'll be nowhere near as rabid as fans of TV shows, cartoons, and webcomics.

True, any encounter i've had with a family guy, american dad, south park, or all of the above fan, say if you don't like the shows then you're probably just too dumb to understand the all the jokes. All being keyword, because apparently if you don't understand even one of the jokes, then it throws off the whole episode and it won't be funny. Seriously, people have said that to me. I'm like "No, I get it, its just not funny".

I don't mean to derail this topic or get too personal, but my for example gf is like that with some of the cartoons she likes. (she just says I'm lame for not laughing at her sense of humor. :P) I was there with many other people like that, however I believe that isn't anywhere as terrible, chaotic, or annoying as organized religious fanatics. I don't mean to offend anyone, but they are the same as any rabid fanbase whether it is star trek, anime, video games, lil' wayne, pokemon, sonic, zelda, family guy, webcomics, etc. but only 10x far worse since they're everywhere and can make complete jerks of themselves when they feel offended. Some of them push their morals on people that want to be left alone.

I constantly find myself annoyed at the Pokemon fanbase because it seems like they don't do anything except create nonsensical yuri pairings...
