Etrian Odyssey IV vs Castlevania

Which game do you prefer?

I've spent more time on Etrian Odyssey though, keen to know about your view.

Etrian Odysssey IV is one of the main reasons I did not pick up castlevania.

EO IV by a mile. I've recorded 57 hours into the game so far and only half way through. Superb game btw. Tons of customization when it comes to classes and skills.

I liked the demo of EOIV better. I havent played the full version of Castlevania yet for obvious reasons but even so I think EO4 is better game

Totally different games, totally different audiences.

Castlevania isn't even out yet, unless you're on the U.S. east coast.

Pretty much what someone else said here.
EO IV practically killed my need to purchase Castlevania.
I am new to both games and have no bias towards either.

I played both demos.
I somehow managed to rack up close to 15 hours in the EO IV demo.
This is the most time I have ever spent with a demo.

Castlevania is a beautiful game. Period.
BUT, before I even completed the demo, I started to feel slightly bored.
It seems like it lacks some of the substance or something. I have enough hack and slashers. It strongly needs a more robust RPG element to give it sticking power. At $40, I dont want a game that I cant play again after I beat it in roughly 10 hours.

In my completely biased opinion, EOIV by a country mile.

Do you mean Etrian Odyssey 4 vs. Castlevania Mirror of Fate?

Etrian Odyssey 4 of course. The game has far more thought put into it, it has atmosphere, challenge, and most importantly, it has a soundtrack that isn't composed by a talentless hack.

If you mean Etrian Odyssey 4 vs. the Castlevania franchise in general..................ouch, that's much harder to decide. Both have generally great music and atmosphere despite being completely different genres.

Yep, Castlevania Mirror of Fate, just couldn't think of the name when I am creating the topic >_>.

Well there's my opinion on the matter. :/

LoS pretty much broke the tradition of Castlevania titles having amazing soundtracks, and they even dumbed it down into a mashy beat em up.

The series only did ONE thing better than the DS Castlevania games...the whip, err...whips things now. I always wanted to see the whip behave more like one in PoR and DoS. But the one thing Mirror of Fate did well is completely drowned out by all the areas which it failed in.
