Ocarina of Time is extremely short. Like.. 4 hours if you're over 12 years old.

Tales of the Abyss will last you a longer time, so it's the better choice.

*fish slap* Beating the game in four hours, if possible, would require A LOT of practice.

I'm clever, vaguely feminine, a vampire, and I wield Dice. PH33R.
The 3DS and PSVita are both outstanding systems. Wally the Equality Weasel says so.

If you haven't played the original version of OoT...well, what's wrong with you?

But yeah, if you haven't played OoT before, definitely play it first.

OOT. Abyss has a good story, but it gets to the point where it keeps dragging on and repeating the same things over again. On a first playthrough, OOT feels the most fresh and non-monotonous. But I say pick it up someday down the road if you have hte time/money. Overall, I enjoyed OOT3D more.

That's speedrunning. People never speedrun the game their first time.
