I tried it.

Dungeon walking was crappy. Just let me walk freely, not space by space. Having to watch my pokemon finish it's walk to a space was annoying so I just stuck to the D-pad and 4-way walking. Also, after a dash, KEEP WALKING, don't just stop, if I wanted to stop I'd stop holding the direction.

Fun part was calling myself "Ult Badass" and Oshawatt "Derp" ... yup.

Sounds like the genre just isn't for you. That's pretty standard stuff for roguelikes. You move one space and then every enemy gets a turn to move at the same time. You have to move like that all the time because they still get a turn even if you can't see them.

I remeber playing a game similar to rogues where enemies moved with you, but movement was smooth and not grid like.

Still, with 4 way movement, I controlled it much better so it made it feel better. =]

The game has better graphics than Pokemon X/Y.

Also, I love roguelikes, so I'm definitely picking this one up. I've played the original PMD, but I never bought the sequel, for some strange reason.

Well if I upset any fans of rouge games, sorry, don't mean to sound bitter.

I just don't remember the name of a few rouge games where I moved freely and so did the enemy but stopped if I stopped. If I walked, they walked, if I ran they ran ... *shrugs* xD

This game looks and sounds fantastic. The graphics are vastly improved to its ds predessers. My only complaint is the slow text.

Shiren the Wanderer is the only roguelike I could ever tolerate.

It's a shame we only got 2 of them.

I tried it out. Never played PMD before. The game itself seemed decent enough, pretty standard roguelike fare with a few small Pokemon touches which I liked. But the pace of the braindead dialog was too brutally slow for me. And yeah it had the worst dialog I've read in a game in years, somehow worse than the main series' increasingly bad stories. Probably pass but it did seem like a great roguelike for kids.
