Size SDXC card you'd need to fit all 3DS digital titles in it's LIFETIME

How big are and potentially will retail games be, block size and byte size?

And how big are and potentially will eShop titles be, block size and byte size?

Then, let's see what would be able to store as many titles as you want considering those sizes: a 128GB SDXC card or a 256GB SDXC card.

I don't think games will get much bigger than they are now, so it seems a 256GB card will be enough.

I say in a year they'll go down to the low $100s

The 4GB stick I had got me NSMB2, Adventure time, Fire Emblem, Lego LOTR and a half dozen e-shop games and I finally ran out of space. I actually just bought a 16GB stick tonight (on sale at target) and I could roughly put 8 or 9 more retail games on there.

Each retail game seems to be about 1500-2500 blocks of memory, while VC games are several hundred blocks tops and 3ds ware is 500-1000 blocks. Personally, I love digital downloading and I think the 16 GB stick suits me fine.

I was thinking about getting a 128 GB SD card but that's too expensive.

I'm not sure the 3DS is compatible with extremely big SD cards. I can't remember exactly, but I do recall reading something like that. You should be able to find it is you search, for Nintendo's page.

I've searched, they officially like to say 32GB is their max as that's the max of SDHC, yet people have successfully used 128GB SDXC cards on the 3DS.

So I'm thinking the max is somewhere above 128GB SDXC.

Really! That sounds nice. For Bravery Default, I bought a 4GB SD card, but I would definitely like to buy a larger one. 4GB only allows two games.

Yeah here sorry I didn't post links at first but here:

http://nintendoeverything.com/97347/3ds-can-accept-128gb-sdxc-cards/

that's the 128gb confirmation.

here's Nintendo's official statement about what you should put in the 3DS for storage:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/3ds/en_na/gs_first_time.jsp?menu=using%20sd%20cards&submenu=ctr-gs-sd-compatibility

So I guess the nice thing to point out is that they say "larger" yet they don't give a limit.

That makes me happy and hopeful of using a 256GB card in the future.

Just buy a 32GB Card now. Then when you need more space, 64GB cards should come down in price and you can get one of those.
