CherryEgoPosted 3/16/2013 10:38:10 AM | You know how lots of Nintendo franchises will update their appearance with an adorable flair, a la Epic Yarn? Well I think Metroid should get this treatment.
No, wait, hear me out.
Metroid has always been one of Nintendo's darker and more serious franchises, so there would be a delicious irony in making it adorable. It would would still have the terrifying monsters and dark undertones, everything would just be softer and more colorful.
The story could focus on Samus's childhood. How she grew up with the Chozo, how she became so awesome, and what happened to the race that raised her. Heck, the game could even be a memory-type thing of the current Samus, so the cute style would make more sense.
Of course, the game play would still be the frantic, fast paced shoot-em-up that we love in the 2D Metroid games.
