Well if it helps. I tend to look for games with high replay value, high content value OR good story. Example of a game with high replay value/content value by my definition: Fire Emblem Awakening Example of a game with good story by my definition: Ace Attorney series
I am not a big games that tend to be dark by design (including those with demonic concepts), but there are exceptions like Zero Escape.
I also like easy-going games like Animal Crossing. I don't really like the idea of real-time that has been implemented in games like Harvest Moon/Rune Factory, where you are forced to complete tasks within a certain time limit per in-game day.
Games I liked from GBC/GBA/DS consoles, in no particular order:
Dragon Quest series Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime (I love the ship cannon battles) Dragon Quest/Warrior Monsters Summon Night Fire Emblem Pokemon The World Ends With You Animal Crossing Taiko No Tatsujin Final Fantasy Tactics series Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series (story from the Explorers series was good, only that I am not a fan of the rogue-like gameplay) Style Savvy Ace Attorney (all of it, including Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth and also Ace Justice)
Games I liked from GBC/GBA/DS consoles, but currently suffer a lack of interest in:
Professor Layton series Harvest Moon Rune Factory Zelda
Game(s) I have:
Fire Emblem Awakening Nintendogs + Cats
Game(s) I have preordered and most likely will buy
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Game(s) I am waiting for the price to drop before buying:
Style Savvy Trendsetters
Game(s) I tried the demo for and decided not to buy / might not buy:
Mainly all the Rhythm games like Final Tantasy Theatrhythm, Rhythm Thief and Harmoknights Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (my brother might want this though)
Games I have some interest in but need to wait before deciding to buy
Pokemon X / Y
Games with series that I have played previously and don't think it is likely I will buy
Rune Factory 4 Reason: Not really keen on the artstyle and the overworld sprites and the game has low replay value for me. I read details on this game and don't find myself drawn to it.)
Harvest Moon Reason: I find that it lost the charm and simplicity of the GBC/GBA games since the DS games
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Reason: Not the biggest fan of rogue-like dungeon crawler play.
Game(s) I have briefly tried, but not completed:
Zero Escape (I might have access to it in the distant future) Notes: I do like this game because the investigation format reminds me of the Ace Attorney games.
Game(s) I will definitely buy if an English localisation was announced
Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland Ace Attorney games (both the Layton crossover and Phoenix Wright 5)
Game(s) I might buy if an English localisation was announced
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (very similar to Phoenix Wright and Zero Escape) GTA: Chinatown Wars - good amount of content Chrono Trigger - good story
And yeah, definitely do your best to get your hands on the two Zero Escape games. They have triple threat in replay, content and story. --- Rosewill Challenger | HannsG 21.5" | AMD Phenom II X4 B60 @3.7GHz | Sapphire HD 6850 1GB @875/1075 | 4gb ddr2 667 | Corsair 400w
