So I tried the Monster Hunter demo, I kinda feel bad for the monsters

The game is fun, but I can't help but feel i am being unnecessarily brutal to the monsters.

When you call them "monsters" in the title the perspective from which you're going to deal with them is fairly established... Heck, even "hunter" might have been a little bit of a hint...

Oh I knew to expect, but I just can't help but feel bad for them like I did the easy mission on the demo, and I'm like why am I ruining this monsters day? He's off doing his thing not bothering anyone and I just walk up to him and begin to kick the crap out of him. Like what did he or it do to deserve that?

i think TC would rather play Human Hunter where TC (a human) is being hunted by anthropomorphic animals. yes. what a lovely game

Dr. Light: That's right. It's a variable. It represents unlimited potential.

Don't be fooled.

That monster will kill you and use your remains for monster upgrades.

Well, how would you feel if someone barged into your house and started attacking you with a sword?

Humans probably wouldn't make very good armor. Unless some dragon wants a new hair style.

Except when you go out on quest, it tells you WHY the monster needs to be dealt with. They're usually the cause of lots of trouble, whether it be killing people passing through, destroying caravans, etc. So all of your jobs are pretty much justified.

Well yeah but the demo has none of that, and even then the monsters take like a ridiculous amount of hits to kill and I keep thinking damn why doesn't the monster give up and let me put it out of its misery it has to be in a lot of pain from all the slash and such I have been doing.

That's because the hunting method used in the game is a sadistic parody of this prehistoric hunting strategy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=826HMLoiE_o

The weapons in MH games are actually about as sharp as butter knives and coated in a stinging poison. The goal is to make the creatures suffer as long as possible.
