I think so. The 3ds cards are nearly the same and it shouldnt be to much of a problem adding whatever it needs to play them.

Virtual console will have DS games. Assuming Nintendo even sticks with dual screen.

I'm leaning towards a yes because:

1. Nintendo handhelds are always BC with their immediate previous generations.
2. 3DS and DS use virtually the same cartridges
3. ARM, as far as I understand it, is backwards compatible.


Which follows that if the next Nintendo handheld is BC with 3DS games, then DS games will also be playable.
