To me, no matter how much graphically the Pokemon games have improved, Pokemon Red will be the best there ever was (and Crystal follows second). I remember the first time I played Red on my computer as a 14 year old and I was blown away by the gameplay. Hell, Red was the reason I started watching the Pokemon anime. Those blurry little sprites were the best looking to me and always will be. And the first time I saw my Charmeleon evolve into Charizard...the feeling is indescribable.

Personally animated sprites in Pokemon games have always annoyed me so I turn them off when I can. It really irked me in the last few games where your first Pokemon battling also moved slightly when you were picking its attack...all those ugly pixel blocks me no likey. There wasn't an option to turn those off though so meh.
