Is Link's awakening worth buying if I know the twist?

The story in the Zelda games has never been a main draw of the series for me. In fact I get baffled by people who like it enough to debate the continuity of the games.

It's still an extremely good, enjoyable game, so that's hardly a reason to not buy it.

It's still fun to play so you should get it. No other Zelda game lets you stab goombas and take a chain chomp for a walk

And the Ballad of the Wind fish is a powerful song that every gamer should be familiar with. It's not at the level of the main theme by any means, but it's up there.

Go to Gamestop, buy a Steam card, and use it to purchase Ys Origin. You won't be disappointed.

The folks suggesting the story has no merit are a bit out of touch. Its narrative is old, but the charm is in the island and its inhabitants. The twist does hold weight after you've been immersed and find out after having cleared many dungeons. I still think it's worthwhile if you like 2D Zeldas seeing as how it and the Oracle games--which use the same general gameplay--are excellent.

Agreed. I love the Oracle games and Link's XD because of how simple and nostalgic the plot and world is. It has a lot of charm.

It's not about the destination, it's about the journey.
