Why does the 3DS *still* lack dedicated Facebook and Twitter apps?

I know it's possible to view the mobile sites using the inbuilt 3DS browser, but you aren't getting the genuine social media experience. The browser is difficult to use and has limited capability.

In order to truly 'plug in' we need dedicated apps designed specifically to let 3DS users take full advantage of all the features of Facebook and Twitter.

Smartphones have had dedicated social media apps for years, why is Nintendo still dragging their feet on this?

dsi had a face book thing but i don't think anyone honestly used the thing.
what i'd RATHER be able to do is to take my videos i record with my 3ds camera and upload them DIRECTLY to youtube sure i won't be able to upload all of them,but it's save me some trouble of having to copy videos to an sd card,take the sd card out my 3ds,copy the files to my laptop,uploading the vidoeos,and putting my sd card back into my 3ds.

Why must you have social media apps on a gaming system? Whats the point? You can't even check anything if you're away from a wifi hotspot. Use your phone.

it's more a thing for those of use who refuse to buy a damn smart phone when you can get skype for free and a land cost 20 bucks a month. not 600 dollars for the phone AND monthly fees.

Facebook and Twitter both work fine for me from the browser but I don't honestly see the point. Using a handheld console for social media is generally pretty cumbersome and unnecessary.

Netflix good

Internet Browser good

Other things arbitrarily bad

The fact of the matter is that the addition of a dedicated Twitter application only helps and doesn't hurt.

I'd rather they make the browser not a total piece of **** before they try their hand at other apps.

words.

The fact of the matter is this; I buy a video game console [handheld] for the purpose of gaming. Period. I have a smartphone like every other person in the civilized world and I use that for all my non-in-person socializing. (In addition to casual games on smartphone for time-killing). A console [handheld] is already lightyears behind a PC as far as graphical capabilities, which are effectively the standard for other ground-breaking done within the industry. By packaging a DS/PSP/etc with all that extra nonsense, you're making poor utilization of the already lackluster hardware. This is the basis for why an Apple PC can be seemingly on-par with a Windows machine of vastly better hardware. The hardware isn't trying to run the App you're using +10 other things running in the background.

If you want to see what happens when you try to make video game systems do things that aren't video games, read this article;
