How often does the 3DS XL go on sale?

#1blackweasel30Posted 4/18/2013 9:25:08 PM
I'm thinking about upgrading to the xl and was wondering if it goes on sale often. Also to those that have it, is it worth the upgrade from a normal 3DS? I have big hands so I'm thinking this may be a good idea for me. Is any graphic/3D quality lost due to size?

I bought mine in January I think when it was 170-180 at Best Buy. Just look around once a month at every place.
I upgraded from DS Lite to 3DS XL and my Lite is so small I can't even play it >_>

It is really really worth it. I upgraded a couple weeks ago when Target had it for $160 and I had already bought Luigi's Mansion, so I got Professor Layton for free. I was able to sell the old one for $120 on Amazon, cleared about $100 after fees and shipping.

It renewed my enthusiasm for the system, it is much more comfortable to play with. The improved screens are drastically better and the bigger size is a much better fit for my hands. It seems a little more plasticky, which is the only downside. But 100% go do it, you won't be disappointed.

Thought I'd mention here that I tried today to use the old scan of the Target ad for the $159.99 Pikachu 3DS XL at Best Buy and the only hang up was that the girl insisted because they didn't sell the actual Pikachu one (even though the ad says blue/red/pink also available) they wouldn't be able to price match. How about that? =P

Unfortunately I wasn't aware that I even wanted a 3DS earlier this month when the actual sale was going on, else I would have just gone to Target. SMT IV really piqued my interest though.

As mentioned elsewhere I hear that Target is again doing a sale starting week of 4/21 for $179, so I suppose that might be as good a time as any to pick one up... although if there is any hope of some color other than red/blue/pink showing up on our shores I will definitely hold out for that!

Thanks for the replies, so is $180 a standard sale price? As in was the $160 sale a one time super rare thing that Target did? I just don't want to buy it only for it to go on sale cheaper a few weeks later.

Actually today I went to a different best buy and they let me have the 3ds xl for 159.99! I just chatted up the associate and his manager a bit and promised I'd buy a few gamed too. They wanted to call target first but I just said I'll just as soon go to target and they caved.

Picked up soul hackers, devil survivor OC and monster hunter 3u.

If anyone really wants this thing for 159 you just have to try. Be personable, be friendly. Social engineering is an amazing thing.

How does that work for a corporate store though? It's not like a shop in India where you can haggle everything.
