It's still in stock at amazon uk, albeit a bit more expensive than a few days ago.

Just buy it digitally. You're more than likely going to d/l some DLC anyway and won't ever want to sell the game.

Why would I buy a game digitally when I already have a physical copy on the way?

I had no problem finding it a gaming store here in Norway, even though the stores had opened up many hours ago. Not surprising, big games almost never sell out where I live.

I wouldn't mind buying it on the eShop but until there's an account system I won't buy anything from it. So if I don't find any retail copies I'll just wait until Nintendo implements the account system.

Ireland is usually the same. Black 2/White 2 and Assassin's Creed III had many copies on the shelves on the day of release.

Though it's possible they simply didn't stock many copies of Fire Emblem.
