Pikachu 3DSXL paint fading?

So I got my DS about 3 weeks ago, and all was fine and dandy. I always babied it, putting a microfiber cloth over it when not in use, and washing and drying my hands thoroughly before use. However, today an odd blemish in the paint showed up. I'm not quite sure what caused it... Any thoughts? I've tried wiping with rubbing alcohol and water, but to no avail.

It's much more noticeable irl than in pictures.

Does look odd. Could be oil in your hands reacting to plastic.

Do yourself a favor go to ebay and buy a clear card cover plastic case. Have one myself best buy in accessories got it for 8$ and came with a multi cartridge case and screen protectors.

When I was thinking about buying it I was worried if this would actually be a problem or not. Hope it's not true and just a weird occurance.

Funny thing is my hands are rarely up there. The highest my fingers go are up to the L and R buttons. The only time my hands touch that are when I close it, really.

I was planning on doing that at first, but with my old DSi the paint still managed to chip off whilst being inside it. I suppose I might as well get one while I can before it gets worse.

Looks like glue or something on the inside is seeping into the plastic.

Do you guys know of a way I could possibly buffer it out or anything? Kinda sad to see my limited edition damaged after only a short amount of time...

That would be the case. mine has a few small spots on there that pretty much came off after using a mini cleaning cloth. it seems to soak in oils pretty easily. after that it was time for the clear crystal armor case.

Still waiting those Hori branded 3DS XL skins/filter sets (similar to this):

I did try with a cloth, but it still didn't work. Perhaps I wasn't trying hard enough? Were your spots easy to remove?
