Why does everyone hate Kid Icarus' controls?

You use the analogue stick to move, L button to shoot and touch screen to aim... What's so hard about that? I don't remember anyone complaining about Metroid Prime Hunters when that came out on the DS as a launch title with the exact same controls

The controls work well, but they are really uncomfortable. And personally, I used the thumb strap thingy to control Prime Hunters... and that worked a lot better. Shame they don't have one for 3DS.

These days, all the kids are playing M rated games while the adults are lining up for Pokemon. Which game is a kid's game now?

They have a steep learning curve, I guess? Once you do learn them, they work wonders and let you be a fury on the battlefield. It is a hard control scheme, but not a bad or unplayable one as some people claim.

Had a Street Fighter signature for four years, but Crapcom doesn't deserve such recognition anymore.

I thought it made it feel like some $2 mobile game, personally. Plus it was pretty uncomfortable no matter how well you got at controlling it. I never really had any issues with the controls they were easy enough, I just didn't like the controls. I also didn't like it with Metroid...

This is one of the cases where people can debate this and that, but where a second CP using more standard controls would have made the game far more accessible to far more people.

I tried that for some games too and thought it was easier in some ways, but it also felt less precise. Pretty sure you'd just be able to use the same one for 3DS though, I mean wasn't it essentially just a little stylus that strapped to your thumb? Wasn't anything special...

Pretty much this. The people who outright say the controls are bad are only a vocal minority, the game certainly wouldn't be getting as high user scores as it has if the controls were broken.

It works great for me.
better than dual analog or mouse+keyboard.
