So what Is the battery for? Is it just to power the accessory?

I heard something about 480 hours. But I'm not sure if that is just for the accessory or not.

To be honest, now hearing it, it does sound stupid. Looking back at the older Nintendo portable consoles required batteries in order use them and they didn't last that long...
