What Kind of SD Card Does This Take?

#1Wario_manPosted 5/7/2013 7:31:41 AM
I've been trying to get all of my downloaded stuff onto one SD card but that is harder than it first seemed and it looks like I'll have to buy a new one. What's the biggest one I can get for it and what type will fit into the 3DS? Thanks in advance.

Without changing the format? 32gb.

However, I believe you can change the format of the card so that you could use either a 64 or 128gb card.

There ya go.

Don't go bigger than 32GB, they have to be reformatted and are unstable on the system.

Thanks :) I'm hoping downloading stuff off of the Eshop I've already bought is as easy as just going back to the page and clicking download. Really don't want to have to buy them again >_>

Yeah, Nintendo isn't really in the habit of giving away a free digital copy simply because you bought the game at retail.

Ignore the guy above me. Once you buy something from the Eshop, you can easily download it again on the same system.

I forget the exact menu path, but all of your bought games are in one section.

Well, I think you can copy over your stuff from one SD card to another. I've not yet done this myself but apparently it's a simple drag-and-drop.

I'm not entirely sure if your eShop data is saved on the system or the SD card, so I wonder if just switching the SD card will remove your eShop records (until you switch back)? Though I doubt this; pretty sure it would be a system save.

Either way, you won't need to redownload anything if you transfer the files (folder?) on the computer. Least I don't think.

Please do ignore my previous message. I misunderstood.

You can indeed download an eShop purchase as many times as you would like.

Just to digress a bit, your post gave me an interesting thought. I always wondered why there wasn't a system to "transfer" a retail-purchased game to a downloadable form, for example using the serial key to generate a download code or something. Then I realized you could basically give your friends free games by doing that. People have criticized Nintendo for overlooking this "obvious" choice but the ramifications would be dangerous for them.
