Only six pokemon challenge:

You can use your starter and the first 5 different pokemon you encounter. No others. In other words if your first two encounters are a rattata and a pidgey then they must be in your team.

But if you meet two pidgey in a row then it's alright. Evolutions are fine and TM/HMs are fine too, but any HMs you use must be used on this team.

This, plus perma-deaths. If a pokemon faints, you can never restore it. However, you CAN catch a new pokemon to replace it, if one of your current ones "dies".

Abandon your starter ASAP

That's actually quite easy considering you can catch a Geodude early and use that to steamroll your way through the first 3 gyms.

Don't use attacks that will be super effective on your opponent or have the STAB.

1. Team can only consist of a total 4 different types (can not change)
2. None of your pokemon can use moves matching their type or type resists
3. No legendary's

Most of these rules are weird and not fun..

I have thought of doing a Mystery Egg run.. Maybe with Kanto/Johto exceptions only.. Every time a Pokemon faints, it gets released and I get a new Mystery Egg from someone (might stock up as I'm not always near wifi) then when they're hatched train the hell out of it so it can level up... Might have to make a level exception. Meaning it can only "die" if its over a certain level... As If I'm in an area with level 30s Pokemon. I'd be releasing stuff all the time when trying to level/train

Once you are able to hatch eggs, you can only use hatched Pokemon.

A maximum of X purchases per pokemart (Recommended 5 or 10)

Banned from a random element. (Cannot use Fire/thunder etc.)

Can only catch 1 pokemon per route/area.

Every failed attempt in catching a pokemon must result in the release of one of your own.

No evolving. Ever.

Must fight ALL trainers that can be seen and reached.

No legendaries.

Only use 1 type of Pokemon (combos okay such as fire/ground and fire/flying)

Revives must result in releasing of one of your Pokemon (sacrificing).

Just some ideas.

Normal type Pokemon in team. They can be normal/flying, but have to at least have one of their types being Normal. Allowed one HM slave if needed.
