I'm still deciding at this moment but I'm quite sure I will cancel at least Animal crossing first.
Reason being that I probably won't happen have time to play then. I have enjoyed Pokemon games but I'll wait and see if they reclass my favorite Pokemon to fairy type first before I decide if I want it or not. My favorite Pokemon has always been considered weak due to being normal only and I hope the changes will open up new playing possibilities for it.

I'm bored of posting these now.

Think what you want if this doesn't change your mind, at that point I don't really care.
Edit: Also, for TC, the Animal Crossing one. http://www.gamestop.com/ds/games/animal-crossing-wild-world/36904

That one does change but not significantly enough to wait that long before playing it.

It's not you liking a game, it's you thinking it's so mainstream everyone played it.

unless your trying to get the limited edition 3ds there's really no reason to preorder either game.
they constantly reprint those games.

Pokemon is plenty more popular than Animal Crossing. No matter what Nintendo will try to pull they will always try to have more physical copies especially for the children and parents who aren't aware of how you use the Nintendo eShop. Pre ordering Pokemon X is just unnecessary when you know copies will be everywhere. (Just like the Mario games)

Both are Nintendo properties, and won't be hard to find later on like Atlus/NISA titles. If you want to cancel your order to wait and see, go ahead. However, I say keep both. Animal Crossing has infinite play value, and X/Y look to be the most in depth Pokemon games yet.
