I have to admit that I am slightly turned off by the childish art style. I have never played a game like this before- maybe viva piƱata?

Should I get this and give it a shot, or should I wait for Zelda and beat luigi's mansion?

Yes, you should.

And as far as a kiddish art style, think of South Park.

This game can be as adult as you want it to be.

I was in the same boat, and was never a fan of virtual life sims, but I do recommend picking the game up. It's entertaining, easy to pick up and play, and good at killing time.

I was the same and bought into the hype, since people say this is the best of the series.

It's amazing, however, you have to be dedicated to play the game at least a little bit every day or so. Meaning that this isn't a "play for a day then come back two weeks later" game. Also, if you mainly game at night, it'll suck, unless you change your clock settings.
I hate seeing sigs with PC specs on them.

Kinda hard to tell if you'll like it, even if you do research. I thought I'd love AC, but ended up dropping the series after being bored to death by AC:WW for the DS. It's just a life sim, which seems so bland, especially when you look at the Rune Factory series, which is a farming sim, dating sim, and an action rpg dungeon crawler.
Phaneuf of your lies.

Yes. New Leaf is my first Animal Crossing game and I am enjoying it.
With your bad back, I don't think you should be picking up any girls.
Van Morrison is still a really cool cat. O.K.?

Animal crossing is like a vacation from gaming. I relax, have fun, and don't shout curses out of frustration while playing. I highly recommend it.

First one I ever played. Hardly have even seen gameplay of one before it. Friend sort of described it. Impulse bought it.

IT'S GREAT.
