Normal vs. XL. Wich is better?

#1stavrosyomafiasPosted 7/20/2013 6:59:18 AM
I have recreated a topic about the games. Anyway as I'm close to buy my 3ds, I want to ask you wich do you think is better. As i saw the XL has a larger screen so does that affect the pixels/graphics. And as the Normal edition is smaller than XL do you feel more comfortable when you play on it or you fell the same as the XL?

Go with the XL. It's better in every way.

well this is factually incorrect.

the XL has worse sound. also, while the screen is almost twice the size as the original, it's resolution is the same... therefore, it has a worse picture.

but the other differences are all good or bad based on one's personal preferences.

i upgraded to an XL recently... i do not regret this decision.

well this is factually incorrect. the picture is the same. hold the screen further away and you'll get the exact same pixel density as the regular held up close. also the xl sound isn't worse, the volume just doesn't go as loud.. which is irrelevant since it's already loud enough.

XL -- hate the small screens on the regular 3DS.

Regular.
Cheaper, higher volume allowance, better pixel density and more portable.

1. The buttons and the circle pad on the XL are bigger and thicker (you can be less accurate and still press them easily).

2. The Start, Select and Home buttons on the XL are redesigned (no longer have dead space in between them and are much longer).

3. The XL's new displays cut glare significantly (each of the 3 layers in the 3D display is treated with an anti-reflective coating).

4. A larger display on the XL means you'll get a better 3D effect.

5. The XL will feel better in your hands (due to tweaking the case design and making ergonomic improvements).

6. The XL sports longer battery life (anywhere from 6.5 hours to 10 hours).

7. The placement of the stylus has been located to the side of the XL instead of on top (better access when you need to use it).

8. The XL sports a matte finish (no more fingerprints).

I'm gonna say regular 3DS is better.

It has better pixel density

It's more portable than the XL

The feel is more elegant. Glossy finish; to some this not good since it acts as a fingerprint magnet. I like glossy finishes. You just wipe your console and it's good as new. Your call.

Volume is louder.

Also, the quality of the materials is higher. It feels and looks nicer than the XL's mate finish.

The only downsides of XL are worse speakers and bigger pixels.

BUT

If you care that much about sound quality, you can go with earphones.
And the pixels are not as bad as people make them out to be. "OMG I can see each pixel, so bad".

To me it's only visible when the entire screen is of one color (like on the menu) and still, it's not that bothering. You have to actually look for it to see it.
