3DS will probably end at around....dunno, ~80 mil+ LTD

It's a fair guess. It certainly won't do DS numbers, but with another remodel, price drop, steady stream of software GBA numbers are definitely doable.

My only concern is support for 2014 and some possible droughts that could hurt momentum long term.

The GameCube sold a lot less than the N64, so the 3DS already surpassed its numbers last year. Next year it will almost certainly overtake the SNES, and then it will overtake the NES by 2015 unless something goes horribly wrong.

Oh crap, was gonna say SNES sold over 60 million, but I guess it was only 49. Next year it should definitely pass SNES.

That's low for a handheld. On it's current pace, it'll probably be in the 110 to 120 range.

So if Nintendo changed the name of the Wii - U, would they be pulling a U-Wii?

Obviously DS and Wii probably did this pretty fast as well, but it's still worth noting. Needs about 500k to get there, it should be official by September (if it's not already).

In about two and a half years the 3DS will have passed a console that was on the market for 5 years before a successor. Japan is a big factor in this obviously, with more than a third of the LTD being there so far. 3DS has already more than doubled N64's Japan LTD.

Next up, SNES. It will be a long road but 3DS should surpass it depending on Nintendo's first party support. Pokemon/Monster Hunter/Zelda/Mario Party should increase sales quite a bit this year.

If i hear another word about mario or zelda or pokeman i will throw up

Is somebody mad because he's a casual gamer who only wants M rated games because he's "mature"?

It only seems low because of the crazy numbers from the DS-PSP generation, when dedicated gaming handhelds had a lot less competition than now. The iconic Game Boy sold less than 120 million consoles over 12 years, and from I've read that number includes all the different models, including the Game Boy Color. I'd expect the 3DS to sell 80-100 million consoles in its lifetime unless something big and unexpected happens.

I wasn't including Monster Hunter with first party, I even considered not listing it since it seems it won't come west this year. I could see how one might think I meant that though.
