I think the 2DS is actually a great idea.

Think of how many people would buy a 3DS but can't be bothered to shell out almost $200 after tax for it? For those who don't care at all about the 3D, this is a much cheaper alternative and hopefully gets quite a few units sold. The non-portability of it is stupid though, gets rid of Streetpass functionality for the most part (and being on campus, I get almost 10 every single day!)
If you believe in Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it, put this in your sig.

Cheap alternative for those who doesn't care about 3D. I know a lot who would get this.
I hate games with bad game design

I hope this does not effect 3DS sales, or do they combine the sales of these 2 things?

you must be a nintendo employee then. NO ONE apart from them could ever think this is a good idea. ugly as sin, bizarre form factor, one speaker,(like WTF, are we suddenly in 1989?????) tiny ass screens, can't protect the screens. if they can't be bothered to shell out $200 for a 3ds, that's their problem, not nintendo's. this looks like a fisher price e-tablet for kids, looks absolutely ridiculous.

The cheaper price can attract more than just children.

People are getting really upset about something they don't have to buy.

If it were an option when I got my 3DS, I would've definitely gotten one instead.

I think it is a smart business move. I'm guessing they are missing out on some of the younger customers. I can see why a parent wouldn't want to get their child a 3ds/3dsxl. The 2DS is cheaper, looks sturdier since it isn't hinged (which a kid can easily break on accident). They also don't recommend 3d being viewed by kids younger than 8 for long periods of time. Launching it the same day as Pokemon X and Y makes sense.
