I love the people who say that YIDS is the worst and an insult to the series when Yoshi's Story exists.

Yoshi's Story is my favorite 2D platformer. I've played Super Mario Bros 1-3, Lost Levels, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. Wii, Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island DS, Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, bunch of Rayman games, more games...and I like Yoshi's Story the best. Not many people agree with me on that probably xD!

All I found was the baby switching mechanic to be annoying. Because why collect everything in the first few worlds when there's a specific baby you need?

I feel indifferent about the removal of items. They somewhat broke the original game by giving you 20+ star items and a red coin finder. At the same time, since they were gone, the game became a lot more difficult to get 100% on.

I have a special patch on mine that I got from a friend and it has nearly all the songs based off remixes of the first game tunes. So I don't remember how the actual original music sounded.

I think they meant "I don't remember what Yoshi's Island DS's music sounds like". They meant the original music from YIDS, not the music from the original game on the SNES.

Um, that's music taken from the original SNES Yoshi's Island. Maybe you should put a link to music that originated in YIDS?

It's... It's in a playlist. I fail to see the point in copying ang pasting every link in that playlist when just letting it play would show them. (Alternately, they can click on them themselves.)

Why not just link to literally ANY YIDS track? It doesn't matter which one, just as long as it isn't... a YI song.

Apart for it being very easy(unless you're going for 30 melons per level in which case it's punishing) there's not much you can fault Yoshi's Story for as a platformer.

Wattson does this all the time. He floats around the Yoshi's New Island board and now this board to spread his bitter angst over Yoshi's Island DS. We get it, dude. You HATE the game. How many times are you going to word the exact same message differently?

The game, for what it's worth, is a great source of a challenge that is even greater than what the SNES classic has to offer. Sure, overall, the charm that SMW 2: YI has could never be bested, and least of all by YI: DS. What YI: DS has to offer, however, does make it a decent game.

Ah yes, I think you are stretching the truth about the controls in YI: DS; I never had a problem with them. The music, while not nearly as great as SMW 2: YI's, is decent and gets the exact same treatment as the SNES classic, which is remixing the SAME tunes over and over again. The SNES classic just had more variety and subjectively better tunes to bob your head to.

The baby switching mechanic is actually the one thing I can understand receiving hate. It wasn't exactly well designed; people just didn't care for it for the most part. Not to mention that the character coins were only based around three of the babies at that.

The extreme challenge of completing everything and the beautiful graphics that YI: DS offer, despite being blow out of the water by its predecessor, still puts it on the map as a worthy addition to the series. What you are arguing in your original post is nothing more than nitpicks for the most, Wattson.

Anyway, I take the game for what it is TC; your problem, just like plenty others, is that you expected a game fifteen years after the SNES classic to somehow and actually trump it. SMW 2: YI just simply has too much charm and personality to be bested, which was proven by YI: DS's existence. Maybe if Nintendo actually had an influence in YI: DS, it would have came out much better.

Anyway, the Yoshi's Island series isn't as important to Nintendo like their precious Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon; don't know why people would expect so much out of the Yoshi's Island series given this fact alone. I still think Yoshi's New Island will have a much better chance than YI: DS given the generation and hardware it is in and on.
