Nintendo deleted my friend's games

I saw this on my Facebook feed. My friends' names have been redacted for their privacy.

The first thing I want to ask is, why would Nintendo allow the redemption of more than one $30 code on a single system if they didn't want people doing that?

Second, why would they wait until AFTER the purchases were made to take action, and why would they delete the games AND lock the Club Nintendo account? Sounds really messed up and unfair.

Third, HOW IS IT THAT THEY CAN DELETE STUFF FROM OUR SYSTEMS REMOTELY? Does this mean they can remotely brick our systems if they see anything they don't like? That's insane!

My friend's handling this well, he's not that upset about it (in fact he says he's still going to get the Pokemon 3DS XL in two weeks), but I just find this really REALLY messed up.

Thoughts?

I want to know your friend's name.

Because I care about him.

stop fear mongering, one they probably were on the same family account when the rules state that you can only get one code

also i doubt nintendo deleted the games, but rather made them untied to his system because thats how eshop purchases work, they get tied to the system so that only the system that they were bought on could play them. we know nintendo can change that data because its how system transfers work

basically what it does is both 3DS connect to the nintendo server, then nintendo takes the information from the target system, and has the source system rewrite the games to play on the target system. so if nintendo probably has a log off everyone's eshop purchases and probably can find out what each system has downloaded by serial number and then used that.

I'm pretty sure this whole story is just a lie.

Pretty sure? It most likely is, since there is no real way Nintendo can just delete stuff off your system unless you bring it to them.
