the dsi had improvements

wrong

novelty cameras and more importantly, region locking, are not improvements

lets revisit the actual quote. "the dsi had improvements to advertise."
For example, having the cameras was a point they advertised. The dsi shop and larger screens were points they advertised. Those arent opinions.
The only marketting hook of the 2ds seems to be the price.

A better analogy is GBA Micro.

Actually, its more like the GBA SP than anything else. Although, unlike the SP, the 2DS removes features rather than adding them.

The screens not scratching themselves is an improvement.

This. it's a cheaper, inferior alternative, not a superior upgrade.

The screens have a greater chance of getting scratched now that they are exposed all the time.

Before the DSi XL, the original DSi had bigger screens than the DS lite, and Phat. They weren't much bigger but they were.
