Would 3DS games look better than Wii games if...

They completely took out 3D, blacked out the lower touchscreen and displayed only on the top screen? Just a thought.

Why would disabling the touch screen make the graphics on the top screen look better?

Well for obvious reason that 3DS won't have to render anything down there, freeing up the processor.

No, because 3DS games are ''programmed'' for a certain resolution. Which is why 3DS XL's screen looks more pixelated. The 3DS can't look better than the Wii, they'd have to make a new system altogether.

Developers are able to get better graphics by taking out 3D, so wouldn't taking out an entire screen get even better graphics? This won't change resolution I know but it must improve poly count and framerate

A lot of the time the lower screen just shows some simple 2D menu or stats screen or something, so no, it wouldn't make much difference.

They aren't omitting 3D because they get better graphics, they're omitting 3D because they can't figure out how to make the game run smoothly in 3D. That's all. Stop spreading misinformation.

You're also completely ignoring that they can get the exact same effect by simply programming the game to work one way in 3D and other without 3D, which is exactly what they've been doing since the 3DS launched with games running in 60 FPS without 3D and 30 with. Disabling 3D doesn't magically increase polygon capabilities.

And you would know that because you've developed for 3DS.

Get off your high horse. It's already been stated by Pokemon developer that they were able to add more detail to the overworld by disabling 3D. Add more detail, not make the game run smoother.

Some people just want to blindly believe. All omitting 3D does is make them not have to make the 3D portion. The reason they omitted 3D in Pokemon is because they couldn't get the 3D over world to run smoothly with the detail of the 2D one. It was laziness. They effectively removed the option of a lower FPS 3D over world and in return put nothing in its place.
