as we have seen nintendos handhelds grow as powerful as a older systems

GBA = more powerful then SNES (zelda alttp remake)
DS = able to play games remade from the N64 so as powerful (super mario 64 remake)
3DS = able to play powerful upgrades of N64 games like (zelda oot and starfox remake)
future handheld = uses small disks and can run gamecube games and games will be gamecube+ quality

N64? Gamecube? Screw that, the 3DS handles Wii ports.

LOL at all the whiners and trolls. They know Vita tv and new model will kill all competition. Festering wounds for the Nintendrones by the gallons. - karissa1

This.

With how cheap flash memory is nowadays, sticking to cards would be best for handhelds.

Considering it handled one of Wii's best looking game in almost double the framerate, then no, it doesn't seem too much of a stretch.

Neither of those games are remakes. Star Fox and OoT are on the edge between enhanced port and remake, but IMO count as ports.

Optical disks? no.

3DS can handle Game Cube games now, with the obviously lower resolution.

The next Nintendo hand held is quite a ways off. 3DS is only 2.5 years on the market.

What Game Cube game would you want remade on a handheld anyway? Super Mario Sunshine? They'd have to do a control upgrade as opposed to a graphical/processing upgrade.

My question is:

Will the next handheld offer Super Nintendo virtual console games?
