Some woman at UPS just gave me crap about spending money on video game consoles.

I'd agree it's a fair amount of money, and proceed to complain about the cost of books, DVDs, going to the movies, attending sports events, eating out with friends etc etc.

Oh, and shipping. I'd complain about the cost of shipping. "$20 for a less-than-half-a-kilo plastic case with a disc in it? Who thinks of this stuff?"

But the real bottom line is, who cares? TC got what he wanted, and the girl who delivered it had a s****y job. Don't see how it can get any more concise.

Btw, TC, you still haven't addressed the most important issue here:

Was she hot?

GOD no. *gag*

3ds isn't a console...
a console is something you hook up to a tv.

"A video game console is an interactive computer that produces a video display signal which can be used with a display device (a television, monitor, etc.) to display a video game."
Yes the 3ds is a console. Also just go out of bounds of your post. People have figured out a way to hook the 3ds to a TV

This is a semantical argument, but I'm (surprisingly) going to back up SMASHKING here. Denotation, from wherever you got that, does not define terms so much as connotation and common usage. Usage dictates that consoles are larger, more expensive pieces of hardware that use a television. Conversely, 'handhelds' are different in that they provide the same (but generally lesser) experience without a television for portability. Therefore, the 3DS is a handheld dedicated gaming device.

Go to Gamestop, buy a Steam card, and use it to purchase Ys Origin. You won't be disappointed.
No news now-

You still support the fact it is a console. Just because it is not among the common usage for the use of the handheld. I still stand by what I quoted.

no because your defintion of consoles makes pcs consoles.

their's such thing as a console style rpg and a pc style rpg.
therefore they cannot be the same thing.

i really hate how people try to change the meanings of words.
next thing you know people will start calling PCs tvs.

simply put the point is there's a difference between PCs and consoles.
and i used the genre's names as way to prove that.

the dictionary definition of console is too vague.
really even a cell phone that plays games is a console under that meaning.
that's why i use the old meaning.

which used to be something you plug into your tv.
i really dont understand why people cannot simply call the 3ds a portable or a handheld.
no matter if you want to call a console or not, calling a portable or a handheld is a far more accurate description of what it is.

and if you really want to throw an extra word at the end why not system?
i always called handhelds handheld systems and tv systems i called consoles.
it's far easier to tell someone what something is if you call it a less broad term.

for example:you tell your parents you want them to buy you a console.
because they aren't familar with the current terminogly, they think you mean a tv console.
so instead of a 3ds/vita you get something like a wii.
