Better game - Kingdom Hearts.

Better story and characters - Fire Emblem.

Kingdom Hearts. No competition. FE:A has terrible, clique characters and a boring, predictable story.

You probably won't like FE because Marth is female.

I enjoyed FE more. FE definitely takes the win for story and characters.
When I get double vision, I just close one eye and I am all better!

I just find KH's gameplay to be much more enjoyable.

Fire Emblem, no contest. Though it's more by default than competing merits.

It's not hard to beat Kingdom Hearts with story and characters, or gameplay. Stiff and unresponsive combat, shallow gimmicks and movesets, barren worlds, and the new spammable flow-motion aren't good ARPG gameplay. Combined with yet another semi-plot that saves the only meaningful revelation until the end, and putting the characters through the same trite motions they've endured like 3 times already at this point... and you're left with a poor game.

Fire Emblem has some issues with maps and balancing, but KH is a far poorer product all around.

Here's hoping that Chrom will do Aether correctly in SSB4...
